Apex Scotland is a national charity doing vital work: reducing reoffending and building safer communities.
They offer practical, person-centred support that transforms lives. In essence, they offer hope. And when people have hope, they can change their story.
We were keen to partner with them to design a digital presence that expressed their rebrand in a clear, confident and compassionate way and met the needs of the people they serve.

Discovery That Digs Deeper
Through workshops and stakeholder interviews, we uncovered the full complexity of Apex’s work and the range of people they support—from participants facing crisis moments to families looking for guidance, to staff delivering frontline services.
One thing became clear: the new site had to feel safe, be simple to use, and speak to people who might be arriving with anxiety, urgency, or hesitation. Trauma-sensitive, emotionally intelligent design wasn’t a nice-to-have—it was essential.
By keeping their users at the heart of every decision, we ensured straightforward navigation and carefully curated content to make Apex’s services transparent and approachable for the diverse personas who interact with the site—from individuals seeking urgent help to family members searching for guidance.
Designing for Real People in Real Situations
We designed a clean, highly accessible interface that was welcoming and calm. The content was carefully structured to remove friction—so users could find what they needed fast, without jargon or judgment. From bold signposts for urgent help to clearly defined service pathways, every element communicated empathy and practical next steps.
The site also gives Apex staff and partners a clearer picture of the charity’s full offering. Internally, the platform helps align teams, support funding conversations, and build a stronger understanding of Apex’s scope and purpose.
A Platform for Change
The website became a digital expression of Apex’s values: dignity, clarity, and practical support. It reflected their rebrand, clarified their message and amplified their impact.
For participants: it’s a trustworthy guide through complex situations. For families and supporters: it’s a reassurance that help is accessible. For staff and stakeholders: it’s a unified source of truth, supporting outreach, planning, and impact reporting.
All of this contributes to a stronger, more connected organisation.
Collaboration is the Key
For us, this wasn’t just a creative project—it was a deeply collaborative partnership. Apex Scotland’s openness to rethinking how they communicate online allowed us to craft a meaningful, user-first experience that brings their rebrand to life in the most impactful way.
This allows the site to become a cornerstone of Apex’s rebrand. It empowers others. It gives teams confidence, builds credibility with funders, and most importantly, makes help easier to find for those who need it most.
Together, we created a site that does more than tell a story.
It offers a platform for hope.
