Putting art on the map

Set within 70 acres of ancient woodland and wildflower meadows in Sussex, the Goodwood Art Foundation is a unique cultural destination founded by the Duke of Richmond. Launched in 2025, the foundation has already built a reputation for showcasing contemporary art in a beautiful setting and making this accessible to a variety of audiences.

The foundation is developing the site in an ambitious way with WHY Architects, a multi-disciplinary design practice known for major commissions like The Met and the Musée du Louvre. They have innovative and bold plans for new gallery spaces nestled in the landscape, preparing it to be a global destination for art and education.

We were asked us to create a film to introduce the foundation, capture their vision and inspire support. They wanted an emotive and engaging story of the foundation’s vision and ambition, a short documentary-style film that could be a storytelling asset and emotional catalyst for an international fundraising tour.

Crafting a story to inspire support

We approached this project as storytellers first, filmmakers second. Drawing on our experience creating long-form storytelling content for clients in the arts, heritage, museum, and gallery space, we wanted the film to appeal on both a story and artistic level.

Our story strategy was all about human connection and voice. By weaving naturalistic interviews together, we told the story of the foundation’s three pillars: art, landscape and education.

Designing for the Future

By allowing the narrative to unfold authentically, the film became an engaging documentary, inviting potential patrons to play a vital part in building a unique legacy.

It presents the vision of the foundation to be a world-class cultural destination, providing the Goodwood team with the narrative power needed to secure their next phase of growth.
