Home Sweet Home

Dean and Cauvin Young People’s Trust is one of Edinburgh’s oldest charities, established in 1733 by merchants in the city to rescue children and young people from the streets. They approached us to help create a film to launch their new fostering service.

They were keen to create an emotional piece of filmmaking that would inspire people to consider fostering teenagers. We decided to place a a personal story at the centre of the film. The fostering service is called Room4U and this gave us the idea to transform a room from an empty, lonely space into a warm, homely living room around our central character.

This film production was a chance for us to provide the fullest production service possible, everything from concept development to scriptwriting and casting to designing and building the set ourselves. It’s the sort of challenge we love!

What was extra special about this production was the involvement of teenagers who had been fostered. They  inspired us throughout the production process and their involvement brought a fresh feeling of reality to our work. It was great to see the film launched and awareness increase for this important, long-serving charity.
