Daysix is looking for a Frontend Developer with React experience to join our healthcare focused development team. You could be relatively new to React or have considerable experience with the technology. The key is that you can show your work and are fluent enough to discuss your approach to development when using the framework.

Working closely with other developers, you will work on a range of innovative and challenging projects that have real world impact. Daysix has a particular focus on healthcare, with a reputation for delivering solutions into the NHS, directly impacting the lives of both clinicians and patients. Our success has come from a deeply inquisitive culture that seeks to understand the context of the problems we solve. 

You will work on both Native (e.g. our Major Trauma App) and web apps. You will also be part of shaping our next generation clinical data capture platform that we are developing in collaboration with a number of national agencies.

About you and the role

You are motivated, hardworking and deeply interested in the potential of software development. You must desire to grow and to take ownership over your work. Ultimately, you must love developing software.

This is a fun, fast-paced role requiring the ability to develop applications for clients. You will be passionate about building great user experiences and an enthusiastic learner who works well in a team, driven to grow as both a developer and a wider problem solver.

You will be involved in the entire solution development lifecycle from: end user discovery, requirements gathering, concept, design approach, project planning & tracking, infrastructure management, build systems, development, testing and rollout.

The technical stuff

Essential Requirements:

Demonstrable experience of:

  • React/React Native/Angular
  • SPA/PWA technologies
  • Working in a software development team
  • CSS frameworks/SASS
  • Component frameworks
  • RESTful APIs
  • Source control software (Git) experience, especially within a team

Please provide links to applications or code repositories you have previously worked on.

Desirable:

  • Interest / Experience in development for healthcare
  • Knowledge of healthcare standards such as FHIR and coding standards such as SNOMED CT
  • Experience with Microsoft DevOps
  • Experience with Azure Cloud Services
  • CI/CD & DevOps experience
  • Experience using test libraries
  • Experience working in an Agile environment

  • 35 hr week – Full time hours are 35 with core operating hours of Monday – Thursday 9.30-4. Our team uses this opportunity to use Fridays more flexibly.
  • Flexible working – We operate a hybrid working model and expect our team to be able to travel into the office at least three days a week, however each case is considered individually so are always open to conversation.
  • Enhanced annual leave – 30 days annual leave pro rata. We don’t recognise bank holidays so you’re free to use the 30 days when suits you. On top of your 30 day allowance we close the office between Christmas and New Year allowing additional days off for all of the team.

If you’re a motivated and experienced UX designer and would love to be part of a team creating and delivering excellent software and web projects, then we’d love to speak to you.

We’re at an exciting stage of our development as a company. Operating heavily in the healthcare sector, we have a strong reputation in Scotland for delivering great work and a client base that provides us with a range of challenging and meaningful projects. We have a brilliant team of designers and developers  who want to push further and increase the quality of our work and are looking for a dedicated UX designer to help us achieve that.

About you and the role

We are looking for someone who loves to get really close to the problem and understand the challenges and opportunities, in order to create great design solutions and user experiences for our projects. Someone who gets a kick out of translating client requirements and research into effective designs, collaborating with developers and designers to bring them to life.

You have a strong ability to grasp complex concepts and contexts. We’re anticipating the candidate to be a more seasoned professional with extensive UI/UX experience, particularly within the healthcare sector but we’d be open to hearing from more junior designers with a solid portfolio and the ability to quickly adapt.

You will take ownership of requirements gathering, engaging intuitively and effectively with stakeholders. You’ll lead the design phase, shaping our approach to design and fostering a culture of continuous learning.

The technical stuff

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in interaction design, visual design, and prototyping tools (we’re Figma people).
  • Must be able to demonstrate experience as an UX Designer or similar role and provide a strong portfolio showcasing UX work including providing links to interactive mock-ups (in your preferred design tool)
  • Knowledge of front-end development technologies and their impact on design decisions.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to address complex design challenges and make data-driven decisions.
  • Creative approach to generating innovative design solutions that meet user needs and business goals.
  • Demonstrated success in improving key performance indicators such as user engagement, conversion rates, and retention.
  • Capacity to lead initiatives that result in tangible improvements to product design and user experience
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and clients
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and react quickly in an evolving and fast paced environment.
