We are looking for a Web Developer to join our growing team.

Permanent, full-time

Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 dependent on experience

The role

At Daysix we deliver great websites for our clients, but we’d like to do it even better. As part of a growing business and changing remits, a position has become available for someone to join our web department and be part of driving web at Daysix.

We build and maintain a growing number of websites for a wide spectrum of clients across private, public and charity sectors. Web is often the cornerstone of a project or the entry point for a lot of new clients, and an incredibly important part of our service. We’re looking for someone with a love of the web to contribute to all elements of delivery and development of our web projects as well as ongoing support of our websites.

About you

You’re a proficient back and front end developer, and love the wonderfully messy world of web. You’ve demonstrable experience of web sites you’ve built and wrecked on. You’re familiar with a wide variety of technologies and frameworks and able to quickly and intuitively determine the best tool for any job.

You’re passionate about creating great user experiences and are always learning about the services and tools available to help achieve it.

You take pride in your work with a strong attention to detail but know how to not overthink and when pragmatic solutions provide best value.

You’re a team player, excellent at communicating, collaborating with people, and working alongside other developers.

What you’ll be doing

Working alongside existing developers and designers and organisers on all aspects of our website output to ensure we deliver excellently and according to current best practices and standards.

Working closely with clients and stakeholders to understand business requirements and help translate these into an approach for web and technical requirements for the development team.

Contributing to the design, development, coding, testing and debugging of applications.Supporting with managing the ongoing maintenance and support of both new and existing websites.What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone to come in and improve what we do, so experience, a proven track-record and confidence is essential. Applicants will need to clearly demonstrate practical experience with developing content-heavy websites as many of our existing sites and infrastructure have that profile.

The technical stuff

Demonstrable experience of the following are beneficial:

  • Managing and extending Content Management Systems (such as WordPress)
  • HTML/CSS/JS/PHP/MySQL
  • Git/version control
  • Payment platforms and integrations
  • Handling servers/data/imports/exports
  • Comfortable with APIs
  • Knowledge of JavaScript frameworks
  • CI/CD
  • Security tooling and best practice

What we offer

  • 35 hr week with the option to compress to 4 days – Full time hours are 35 with core operating hours of Monday – Thursday 9.30-4. Many of our team use this flexibility to regularly take Fridays off.
  • Hybrid and flexible working – we don’t encourage fully remote working and expect our team to be able to travel into our Edinburgh office a couple of days a week, however each case is considered individually and we are always happy to chat.
  • Enhanced annual leave – 30 days annual leave pro rata. We don’t recognise bank holidays so you’re free to use the 30 days when suits you. On top of your 30 day allowance we close the office between Christmas and New Year allowing additional days off for all of the team.
